Margaret River, WA Notes from HappsThe sheer joy of ripe, red grapes, brilliant, bright, burgundy purple plums, currants and blackberries. The BlendThe PF Red is a blend of good stuff like Pinot Noir, Merlot, the Cabernets, Franc and Sauvignon and sometimes Shiraz. The really essential ingredient, for the sake of early drinking, is the Pinot Noir. ColourA full purple reminds one of ecclesiastical robes. AromaPlums, currants, red berries. Palate Fresh and generous berry flavours riffling over the palate, savoury, elegant, intriguing, with a soft finish. Early in its life the aroma of fermentation is part of the whole but the berry flavours soon take over. Life PF Red will hold its condition in bottle as well as any wine with 'preservative'. A minimum of five years may be expected. A recent tasting of all our PF Reds since 94 confirmed the point. There is little to be gained however in cellaring it beyond 4 years of age.
